Hair Transplant Methods

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)

In this hair transplant technique, scalp with health hair is removed from posterior neck and hair follicles are sorted to clusters that contain 1, 2, 3 or 4 hair strands and finally, they are transferred to thinned or bald part of the scalp.

The donor site in posterior neck is stitched in accordance with plastic and reconstructive surgery techniques. Thus, the scar formation in posterior neck is minimized and it can be visible when the hair is buzz cut. Sutures are removed 12-15 days after the surgery.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) implies harvesting hair follicles one by one using special thin needles from posterior neck or other body parts and transferring them to thinned or bald areas. Since no suture is placed on posterior neck, scar formation is not the case.

FUT and FUE techniques do not differ in terms of outcomes. If the hair line is properly designed and hair follicles are implanted at correct angles, the result will look natural in both techniques.
